SAP data Migration Methodology

Nordia's SAP Migration Process

  1. Detailed Need Assessment

Our team will work closely with you to manage all aspects of the SAP upgrades and migration. This includes assessment, planning, application readiness, and data migration through functional testing to go live and receive support.

  1. Apply high implementation standards.

We do not cut corners during a migration project, and our migration experts allocate the requisite time to get it done right. We are focused on maintaining high implementation standards.

  1. Ensure full backups with high availability.

Our SAP team does not take unwanted risks when migrating your database. We ensure full backups and ascertain that your business withstands outages and operates optimally without any business risk or interruption.

Migration procedure

  1. Prepare Phase

The preparation for SAP migration contains the following initial tasks:

Set up user accounts for migration key users and assign the business configuration work centre, including the data migration view to each migration key user.

Create a project schedule for data migration using the Data Migration Scope and Planning Template.

  1. Fine-tune Phase

Extract your legacy data from your legacy system and fill it into the migration templates.

  1. Integrate and Extend Phase

During this stage, the majority of migration activities take place. Each migration activity serves as a starting point for tool-supported migration.

In the migration tool, we perform the following:

Upload your filled-out migration template, and the system checks the formal consistency of the source file.

Validate the source file and run a verification to check whether the migration template was filled out correctly.

Convert source values to SAP Business ByDesign values. Here the system automatically proposes new target values.

Simulate the data import and correct any issues before data is written to SAP Business ByDesign.

Import your legacy data into SAP Business ByDesign.

  1. Migration Phases and System Environments

During the implementation project, we perform the described steps in three different environments:

Easy Test Migration

In the test system, we start fine-tuning your business processes and execute the first business process tests. And also perform early migration tests. The early migration tests help us familiarise ourselves with the migration templates and overall migration process.

Test Migration in Migration Test System

We test the migration process with a complete data set in a separate environment using the migration test system. The goal of migration tests in the migration test system is to elaborate on the settings for a successful migration. After migration in the migration test system, we test your business processes using the migrated data.

Final Migration in Production System

In the final step, we upload the value conversion and import your complete data set into the production system.

Accelerate your SAP migration to the cloud and start your cloud modernization journey to achieve scale, flexibility, and operational shift to drive value.
